Dance Diva June 2006

Solo Hip Hop
Song: Boogie No More

This was a fantastic performance during recital! This was Alecia's first solo in her dance career. As we were walking do the hall of the school where the recital was held, there were so many people (that we did not know) complimenting Alecia on such a job well done. Alecia said she could hear the dance studio owner cheering her on from the side!

Alecia's class trip

May 24 - 25, 2006 I chaperoned Alecia's class trip to Mackinaw Island and Ste Sault Marie. As suprising as it may sound, the trip was tons of fun and the kids were very well behaved. There was only one stop on the bus ride to Mackinaw City. We then had a sack lunch at a park in Mackinaw City. Once lunch was finished we took the boat over to the Island and spent the day touring the Island. After a day on the Island we took the boat back to Mackinaw City to once again get on our buses. We had reservations for dinner at a restaurant in Mackinaw City. When I say we had a reservation, I mean the restaurant was closed for us. Great buffet with all types of kid friendly food. The kids did a great job getting organized and seated. After dinner, we were off on the hour drive to Ste Sault Marie to our hotel. We had breakfast in the morning and boarded the buses for the Soo Locks. That was awesome and the kids had a great time. We went through the locks twice and experienced the water rising from the Lake Huron level to the Lake Superior level and then came back through after touring the shore line in Michigan and Canada. We spent several hours on the water which unfortunately cut into our time in the shipwreck museum. Then we were on the buses back to Mackinaw City to the little restaurant with the great buffet. Following lunch was the long but quiet ride home. The kids played nicely or slept. They were quiet to the point that several of us parents were able to catch a few zzzz's. What a great experience. Of course, I won't hog it all. I have told Mark he gets to go in a few years when it is Alec's turn!
